My name is Yana Khitrun. Before moving to Italy I worked in the field of marketing and product management in my hometown Minsk and then in Moscow. Since 2016, I live in Trieste – multicultural city surrounded by beautiful nature.
Exploring the city, I found it very interesting, intelligent and calm. There are many things to do here and a lot of places to visit. Furthermore, Trieste offers a great variety of unique hiking trails. Exactly here, in Trieste, hiking became a really passion for me.
We explore hiking trails, located around Trieste and other cities of Friuli-Venezia Giulia region. From time to time, we travel to Slovenia, country, which is also famous for its beautiful nature and hikes.
So, I like Trieste, hiking and I like writing. Having a lot of interesting information about Trieste itself and hiking trails, we make, I decided to share it on my blog.
About the blog
The purpose of Lookingaroundblog is to tell about variety of hiking trails that I make with my family and friends, to share my impressions and to inspire those who come to Trieste and is passionate about hiking.
On my blog, you can read about one-day routes, located near Trieste. These routes do not require availability of car.
Having a car, you can go to neighboring Slovenia and climb the famous mountain Nanos. You can also visit other unique places of our Friuli-Venezia Giulia region. For instance, incredibly beautiful nature reserve Laghi di Fusini.
Besides the information about hiking, I also share notes about life in Trieste.
I write about places where you can drink good coffee or eat delicious Italian gelato, about non-touristic places of the city, jazz concerts and other events to join. Notes that can be useful for those who come to Trieste for vacation or just for one-two day visit.
