If you are in Trieste and thinking about a place where to eat, pay attention on pizzeria – bar Delfino. We often go there for dinner. More than that, when our friends come to visit us, Delfino is one of “must visit” places 🙂
As Delfino is a trattoria, you fill find in its menu not only pizza. Pasta, seafood salads, risotto and other traditional Italian dishes are also presented. Simple interior create truly home environment. I like a lot its curtains in rustic style, pictures on the walls, semicircular stove.
In one word, pizzeria Delfino is a place in Trieste where you can have a good meal and feel like at home 🙂
Address: Via Nordio Aurelio e Fabio, 12
Good location is one more advantage of the pizzeria. Just three minutes walking to the famous Trieste pedestrian street Viale XX Settembre. Canale Grande is 10-15 minutes walking distance.
What to try in pizzeria Delfino
First, I would certainly recommend you to try pizza 🙂 The choice of pizza in Delfino is good, but not excessive. It helps not to get lost while making an order 🙂 All pizzas are tasty. From my personal recommendations:
- Pizza Margherita: ask to cook it with mozzarella di Bufala and olives;
- Capricciosa: good balance of mozzarella, Italian prosciutto and artichokes;
- Pizza Sorpresa (eng. Surprise): pizzaiolo cooks this pizza following his inspiration 🙂 There is a risk that you will not like it: it is not known in advance which ingredients will be used. But, if you like to experiment, feel free to order it 🙂
From all salads presented in Delfino, pay attention on those with seafood:
- Insalata di mare – mix of different seafood
- Polipo – octopus salad
They are always good and never disappoint 🙂
As I have already mentioned, Delfino menu is diverse. If you are not keen on pizza, you can always choose pasta. For instance Spaghetti allo scoglio: spaghetti with seafood.
Seafood risotto and meat dishes are also presented in menu.
Some words about Delfino desserts
Desserts in Delfino are traditional and simple: Tiramisù, Profiterole, Strudel di mele (eng. apple strudel). Always fresh and delicious, desserts practically do not leave a chance to refuse them 🙂
Even if you definitely decide not to order dessert, make an exception one time for Tiramisù. This cake is incredibly delicious in pizzeria Delfino! Just one important recommendation. Book Tiramisù in advance, while ordering the main dish. Tiramisù is a kind of dessert that is running out very quickly 🙂
About prices and opening hours of pizzeria
- for pizza you will pay 4 – 8 Euro;
- pasta and other main dishes: 7 – 15 Euro;

Like most Italian restaurants, Delfino puts service charge in the bill. It is called “Coperto”. In Delfino service charge is 1-2 Euro per person. You will find this information in the menu.
Traveling in Italy, for sure you will get to know with special schedule of local restaurants. Most of them have long enough break in opening hours. This Trieste pizzeria is not an exception: it is closed from 15.00 till 19.00. So, pay attention in order not to stay hungry 🙂 Day off is Wednesday.
After a nice dinner in Delfino, I recommend you to stroll toward the sea. To be more precise, go to the pier Molo Audace. An extraordinary view on Piazza Unità opens from there. And the last tip in case if you were not seduced by Delfino desserts 🙂 On the way to the pier, drop at the bar – gelateria Siciliana. Theirs ice cream and milk shakes are definitely worth to try 🙂
