One of my favorite places in Trieste – bar – pasticceria “Zenzero e Cannella”. The name is translated as Ginger and Cinnamon. It is located a bit away from the center –
It was one of the first bar I discovered in Trieste. Stylish and cozy interior, good coffee, wide choice of sweets and not only. You can sit at table or at the bar counter which is located in such a manner that allow you to stay in private to drink a cup of coffee and read a newspaper.
When the weather is good, tables located outside, right in front of San Giacomo cathedral, become very popular. It is not a center of the city, but quite busy area. Nearby there are greengroceries, bakeries and pescheria – fish house, where you can buy fresh fish and seafood. You can sit at the table, enjoy freshly brewed coffee or a glass of wine and watch the life of locals.
My favorite drink in Zenzero e Cannella is cappuccino. But be aware that if you want to drink a regular cappuccino in Trieste, you should ask for caffè-latte. If you ask for cappuccino, you will be brought small cup, similar to that one used for espresso. This is one of the characteristic of Trieste coffee culture 🙂 If you are curious, read a quick guide about ordering coffee in Trieste.
